About the Role: As a Surgery Technician, you'll play a critical role in supporting surgical operations and animal care, particularly rodents. This role involves performing minor surgeries, maintaining lab compliance, and contributing to an organized, safe environment. This is an on-site position requiring a passion for animal care and surgical precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle and restrain rodents
- Track surgery animals using specialized software
- Perform minor surgeries (e.g., Jugular/Artery Vascular Cannulation, vasectomy, splenectomy, ovariectomy)
- Administer rodent dosing (IM, IV, SQ, oral)
- Conduct tissue biopsies, necropsies, euthanasia, and organ harvesting
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare protocols
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of small animal surgery experience
- Expertise in animal husbandry, health monitoring, and record keeping
- Experience dissecting mouse organs for anatomical studies
- ALAT certification or equivalent training
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
Compensation: Salary range: $104,000 - $114,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time and permanent opportunity.
